Manufacturing Unit Leader

Purpose of role: to provide leadership in coordinating the daily activities of the weld teams, to remove obstacles, and to ensure the proper training, tools and resources are provided.


  • Responsible for Line set-up, production and quality of components and racks.
  • Coordinates with Production Manager, Manufacturing Engineer and Scheduler to produce racks in an efficient manner while upholding quality standards.
  • Responsible for associate evaluations and associates adherence to company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining good associate relations and applies proper disciplinary measures when required.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and efficient working environment according to 5S principles.
  • Develop and implement measures that improve both quality and production standards.
  • Set daily and weekly goals for production associates.
  • Challenge associates to develop kaizen activities.
  • Provide for a positive environment in which trust, teamwork and accountability are encouraged among associates.
  • Provide coaching to weld team leaders on how they are managing their teams and ways of improvement
  • Work with the Quality team to implement lean tools drive to the root cause of issues, eliminate issues and to improve operations overall.


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least one year experience as a supervisor; or minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office programs proficiently
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels
  • Experience with lean manufacturing techniques
  • Self-motivated and goal driven with a track record of success
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to determine priorities
  • Strong problem solving skills in a dynamic environment
